Buried in Sør-Fron, Norway, this day in 1840: third great-grandfather Lars Davidsen Skurdal (father of Anne Larsdatter). There is no surviving grave marker, but he is probably buried at Sør-Fron church.

Here is an interesting coincidence: Lars Davidsen died about three weeks before his daughter allegedly committed the thievery of food and sundries that landed her in Oslo prison. As you remember, this was after four years of severe famine. Of course, Lars was very old for the times (74), so his death can probably not be attributed to the famine. Still, it may have affected Anne’s state of mind, even her conscience and good judgement. Read more …
