Richardson, known by his stage name, “The Big Bopper.” He is best known today for his biggest hit single, “Chantilly Lace,” and for the fact that he died in a tragic plane crash, along with two other early rock stars, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, in Iowa in 1959.
