Died in Berkshire, Ohio, on this date in 1816: Maj. Thomas Brown, 4th great-grandfather on the Myers side. Major Brown was one of the earliest settlers in what is now Delaware County. He helped plan the town of Berkshire Corners, but the town never came to fruition. Ironically, in the same year Thomas died, Lawrence Myers co-founded the town of Sunbury, which would meet with more success, just a few miles away. It was Thomas Brown’s daughter, Eliza, who married Lawrence Myers, bringing the two families together, and becoming our third great-grandmother. Read more …
