Married in McKenzie County, North Dakota, on this date in 1934: uncle Waldemar Marvin Larson and Irene Gladys Nelson. Uncle Walt and my Dad were the eldest of the five Larson Brothers, and while all five were very close friends for life, these two were the ones who settled in the same town. Thus, our two families were frequent companions throughout my youth. In the clip below, children of both families perform in two local parades (1949 and 1950). I am the toddler in the wagon, portraying “the young Paul Bunyan,” while cousin Kenny provides the “ox-power.” Next, I am the clown on the trike; and the “hula girls” are cousins Myrna and Marcia.
