Ole Larson's Folks

No close family anniversaries. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on this date in 1917: Jazz singer, actress and civil rights activist Lena Horne. Below is the title song from her 1943 film, “Stormy Weather,” a popular standard to this day.

Also, on this date in 1908, a meteor exploded in the Tunguska region of Siberia, with the force of a thousand Hiroshima atom bombs. Along with other devastation, the explosion leveled the forest for twenty miles in all directions, with the downed trees all pointing away from the explosion’s epicenter. To this day, some UFOlogists claim that it was the explosion of an alien spaceship.
