  Birth record residence Skurdal. Other records give "Skurdalshaug." HOWEVER, it was probably not the independent farm named Skurdalshaugen, but a tenant farm on Upper (South) Skurdal, now known as Davidhaugen. After touring the farms in 2011 with local historian Pål Kjorstad, who has a file on the family, I believe that Anne Larsdatter was not only born at Davidhaugen, but also lived there with Lars Paulsen after their marriage, and raised their family there. Various records show the family's residence as "Søndre Skurdal," "Skurdalseiet," "Øvre Skurdalseiet," and "Skurdalshaug." Davidhaugen only became an independent farm in 1905, separating from Uppigard Nordre Skurdal, which, despite its name, is in the southern part of the Skurdal complex. Although only made official more recently, the name dates back to Anne Larsdatter's grandfather, David Jonsen, b. 1737(!) Anne Larsdatter was imprisoned for theivery in April, 1841; gave birth to Ole Larson in Oslo prison. Anne's crime was stealing food for her starving family, after a severe, region-wide famine lasting four years. 1880 census: Household of Hans Hansen (Stigen).
